Since you all love to hear me whine. :-)

- Girl Pain subsiding. Woke me up last night, but 2 Aleve let me sleep again. Installation of semi-permanent pain limiting device scheduled for a week from Monday. Cross fingers that it fits. I'm shaped wrong, so it may not. Either way, that'll be the Doctor Appointment from Hell. I have been warned to load myself up to the eyeballs in painkiller.

- Foot pain bad and getting worse. At car dealership yesterday, spent less than an hour walking/riding around before I had to start to hobble. Haven't run in at least two weeks. Not sure neuromas are the only problem. If I were sure, I might just go kill them... wish I were sure. Need to talk to podiatrist. Did I mention I ran into him at a restaurant the other day? Amusing!

- Base of right thumb behaving rather well lately. For a couple of days now, combing my hair has been okay. Thank goodness something's being nice! :-)

Maybe you and [livejournal.com profile] rampling need to cuddle up with the morphine together!
Monday, July 26th, 2004 04:52 pm (UTC)
It almost sounds like a pick-up line. Hey baby, can I cuddle up with your morphine? :-)
Monday, July 26th, 2004 04:37 pm (UTC)
*hugs* I hope all of this gets better soon.

Since you all love to hear me whine. :-)

And it's such a fine vintage. ;-)

Thanks. One thing at a time: first the install from hell, then I go to the podiatrist and ask for any last-ditch ideas.

And it's such a fine vintage. ;-)

Why thank you. I try. :-)

Speaking of not running, I was out for a 2 mile walk yesterday, and decided to try to run. 44 double paces later my left knee damn near collapsed under me. I went out for another 2 mile walk this morning with some residual knee pain, but it went away quickly. Lesson: Do NOT run. Walk. At least until I weigh somewhat less and knees are stronger.

My condolences on the girl pain.

Owwwww! (I had a knee collapse once; I caught a desk on the way down, so didn't truly fall. Scary as hell.) I hope there's no lasting effect from that near-tumble your knee gave you.

Keep up with that walking, though -- you can't help but strengthen the joints, I'm sure, as long as you're not overdoing it. I am walking to the extent I can, which isn't much but is hopefully better than nothing. Boy do I wish I knew more about knees, overuse, etc. :-/

Thanks for the condolences. I am glad there is hope (surgery); too bad it's twenty years late.

I don't think you mean Nuva Ring (http://www.nuvaring.com/), so I can only think of one alternative. Which causes me to ponder the variety of shapes that alternative comes in, and hope one of those varieties will actually fit well. I hope so!

Mirena is plastic, flexible, and somewhat soft. I hope it conforms well to the weird bend I seem to have. The reason it might be so good is that it dispenses progesterone. Without Too Much Information, I'll just say suppositories are not exactly a fun option. :-)

but we love you CJ, that's the important part. if we decided to only pick-n-choose what we wanted about you, we'd be missing out on a LOT. (i have a rheumatologist appt tomorrow, and because of you i'm more likely to stand up for myself to him)

*offers up some nice cheese to go with the whine*

Monday, July 26th, 2004 06:13 pm (UTC)
Thanks. *blush* And I do hope you stand up for yourself -- he can't do a good job if you don't!

Drugs are good m'kay. Ah the joys of inner pain. It's fun to be a girl.
Monday, July 26th, 2004 06:15 pm (UTC)
Mmmmm druuuuuuugs. %-)

I admit I wish Nature had come up with a better system. This one sucks. (I'd also like to have a word with the designer of knees.)
Monday, July 26th, 2004 06:25 pm (UTC)
I'll trade knees with you, but you have to take my ample ass as well!
Monday, July 26th, 2004 06:32 pm (UTC)
This made me laugh out loud. I can see myself going home tonight and saying "Hi honey, somebody offered me her ass today." :-) I think painkillers make me silly!

The Mirena sounds cool. I had an IUD for years -- I loved it, but it made my periods heavier, not lighter. This thing sounds wonderful! I hope it fits -- I'll be sending good vibes. =hughughug=

By the way, when mine was put in it certainly wasn't fun, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd been led to expect. YMMV, of course, and loading up on painkillers is wise, but it might not be as awful as you think. (Do you need any Percocet? Not that I could give you any of mine, of course, since that would be illegal. But if I had your address I could send you -- um, a letter, telling you all about them.)

Not sure neuromas are the only problem. If I were sure, I might just go kill them... wish I were sure.

Please forgive my horrible memory ... have you had an MRI of your foot?

Base of right thumb behaving rather well lately.

Yay! Hey, anything that makes the overall pain load less is great!
Monday, July 26th, 2004 08:36 pm (UTC)
Heavier! Owie! :-O Isn't that pretty unusual? Or was it common for the type of IUD you had?

Mucho thanks for the vibes. I will gratefully accept any good vibes or prayers people would like to donate on my behalf!

I'm guessing the major awfulness of installation will be due to two factors: 1) I am nulliparous, so my cervix is tighter'n an anus, and 2) my uterus has a near-ninety-degree bend in it. However, I am terrified of needles, so I said I'd probably refuse local anaesthetic. When I told the doc I had minor dental work done without needles she said I'd be fine.

No MRI of the feet yet. Now that the pain is spreading to the ball of the pinky-toe I wonder if he'll order one. Had X-rays. No bone breaks, no arthritis (yet). That's good. Arthritis is hard to cure.

Completely off topic, my gliding club has a Jantar Std 2. with
the somewhat amusing registration of VH-IUD.
(All Australian aircraft have the VH- prefix)
The nick name of this glider is "The Loop".
Tuesday, July 27th, 2004 11:33 am (UTC)
Nice plane! Does the nickname draw in the acro guys? :-)
Tuesday, July 27th, 2004 05:18 pm (UTC)
Well yes, the glider is aerobatic, apparently once someone did a
tail slide, broke the rudder, jettisoned the canopy and was about to bail
out, changed their mind and landed.
Tuesday, July 27th, 2004 06:22 pm (UTC)
Yeow! I did a tail slide by mistake once, in an aircraft whose tailfeathers weren't rated for it. (I'd been trying for a hammerhead.) Fortunately everything remained attached!
Monday, July 26th, 2004 10:46 pm (UTC)
*hugs* I hope your pain goes away quickly.
Tuesday, July 27th, 2004 11:34 am (UTC)
I think I'm in the end stages of the worst part -- I have that nasty feeling in my stomach that says I took too many painkillers yesterday. :)
