This morning I stood on "tiptoe" (ball of the foot) in the shower for fourteen seconds before the pain got bad.

Granted, that's worth maybe five strides barefoot. I don't want to pretend this is bigger than it is. But when I first started quantifying my pain levels this way, two seconds was a good day.

(It's still highly variable. A few days ago it was zero.)

I think at this point you might be thankful for every good day, I know I am.

Yeah, I sure am. Fingers crossed for this meaning more good days in the future.

Thanks! It seems random, the variation, but I admit the first few weeks I measured I didn't have anything above six, so perhaps this means improvement.

14 seconds is a relatively long time, when you're talking about pain or earthquakes. so yay!

*laughter* That's an evocative way to put it! Sort of like "close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades." :)

That's great. I think it's certainly reasonable to count progress in small steps (er, no pun intended!). :)

Yes, especially when deciding whether or not to continue with some kind of treatment.

Good days are worth celebrating!

My other favorite subject line, a while back, was "de agony of de feet".

Excellent. May this be the sign of better days to come.
