I'm sure it was something I ate. However, it wasn't classic food poisoning; with that, I'm so miserably nauseous I want to die. The room spins, my throat stays tight, the whole works. With this, it was miserable in an entirely different way. "Hmm, maybe it's safe to lie down and catch a few winks... no. ... OK, wow, maybe now it's safe to lie do... no."

Knowing me, I bet I got a bit of cross-contamination - fish - at lunch. Any noticeable amount, like a mouthful, of fish would have caused a ruckus within an hour, and I'd have been hungry/shaky yesterday afternoon but I'd have slept last night. This got farther into my system and merited a whole-body response.

Important safety tip. If ya ever spend a night like this, do not fart. I know you're an adult and very used to being in control of this sort of thing. You may think you know what to expect. Don't try it.

So I waited until a) it was clear I wasn't going to sleep, and b) I was willing to be in a car for twenty minutes, and I came in to work. I will definitely give in when the afternoon sleepies hit me.

Ah, and the best part of all this: since I didn't get, or didn't keep, my meds last night, the abdominal pain is coming on line now. I really don't think my tummy wants to process painkillers right now, either.

You can't eat fish or you got bad fish?

Worst food poisoning I ever got was from fish. I was in Istanbul and I have never been so sick in my life. Fish food poisoning is the WORST!

Hope you're feeling better quickly.

Nah, I just can't eat (most) fish or seafood. This kind of reaction is expected, but this severity is thankfully quite uncommon!

Ugh, sounds awful. *hugs*. Glad you're feeling better!

There's enough of an improvement that I'm willing to do things like sit in my office chair at work wearing clothing. I'm not all the way better yet, but boy is this ever a win compared to 2am.

Oh ick. I've had two recent mild bouts (well, the last 6 months or so) of food poisoning. Mild only describes the fact that I didn't barf, not the fact that I didn't *feel* like barfing for, oh, 12 hours or so.

Coca-Cola has allowed me to take in moisture, when even water seemed hideous... It might also allow you to get some pain killers in at some point. Good luck.

Oh wow - I didn't know one could have food poisoning without barfing. Weird. I hate that feeling of needing to throw up. It's awful. A lot of times, when it's bad enough, I'd rather be in pain.

So far I'm sticking with water ingested slowly. Two swallows, let it sit for ten minutes, two swallows... I think I'll make myself some herbal tea, too. Unlike just about everything else on planet Earth, herbal tea sounds good to me right now, which is a great sign. :-)

I would pretty much always rather be in pain. Nausea is really, really awful.

[livejournal.com profile] andres_s_p_b brought home this nasty 48-hour flu once. It had me throwing up every half-hour, on the half-hour, whether I'd eaten anything or not, with extra bonus throwing up if I tried anything challenging like drinking water. I thought, in the depths of the night, Dehydration bad. I could die from this. ... I would be okay with that. Because it wouldn't have been any worse, see.

I hear ya. It's really awful. I too am very dehydrated today, and I am getting by with a couple swallows of water at a time. (Anything more comes back. And I'm still FEELING nauseous, which is just annoying. Body, figure it out. Send it back or shut up about it.)
