Oh man. Did I ever goof. What a mistake.

I visited the Blowfish Tax Day Sale page (link is not work-safe) and now I can't concentrate on anything I'm actually supposed to be doing.

I knew better, I really did...

Nope. Was that also in Portland?

I want to see The Tattered Cover in Denver at least once before I die, too.

Holmes' was in Oakland, a victim of the '89 quake. It proved too costly a proposition to retrofit the building, so they simply went out of business. It was the bookstore my dad and I went to all the time when I was a little girl. Nothing like the smell of old dust on old books - we'd spend *hours* there :).

There are a couple of Powell's in Chicago that I've been to. I got nice translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey by Richard Lattimore.

I'd also like to go to the Tattered Cover (http://www.tatteredcover.com) in Denver sometime. My parents come out on the California Zephyr from Chicago, and it stops in Denver close to one of their stores. Unfortunately, there's only about a 15 minute layover, so my Mom barely has time to buy a book, much less browse. Personally, I could get lost in there for days, after hearing the description.
