...but no doctor today. The guy from the New York pain clinic called me -- excuse me for a moment here:

*** YAY !!! YIPPEE! WAHOO! :-) :-) ***

-- while I was out of town, and he wanted me to call him back when I returned. Now I hear he is coughing a lot and has canceled all his patients for tomorrow. I'm instructed to try again Monday.

Fingers remain crossed.

Thank you! I've tried crossing my toes but they're not very good at that. :)

This is terrific news! You told me about the vet decision, but what's been happening on the pain front?

Thank you! Man, if this works, it could be... I don't have words.

I understand...the chronic pain situation is sooooo hard to deal with. I consider myself...speaking of no words. I know I am very fortunate that removing my brain tumor cured my headaches but that daily pain is so exhausting. I'm rooting for you!

For me it's not even the pain -- I don't have pain unless I use my feet much. For me it's the limitations. "Using my feet much" can mean as little as trying to reach a high shelf, and thus standing on "tiptoe" (the ball of the foot). The idea that some day I could go to the grocery store and not hurt, or go running at all, or hike, or go to a street fair... wow.

hummm.... that sounds a little bit like my recent experience (although my situation was temporary and even MORE limiting than your feet). I had pneumonia and pluerisy (I've forgotten how to spell the latter, which is a good sign!) I described it as "like having an electric fence inside my body" -- do one thing "wrong" and get a shock. One learns very quickly not to try anything "rash" (like changing position or moving, for example). Not knowing what would trigger major pain was scary. Seems a bit like your feet?? I was forever trying to "negotiate" what I could and could not do. ("Do" includes just being in a given position, as well as movement.)

Taking a deep breath without pain is now my equivalent of going to a street fair....something I took for granted until now, and that I now cherish and relish in a whole new way. (For a while I could not lay down in any position, now I can EVEN lay on my LEFT SIDE a bit!!! Imagine!!)

Of course, I wish your limitations would disappear as "quickly" as my pneumonia. (In quotes because it SEEMS incredibly slow -- but slow and fast is all relative....) Sadly, I realize yours is a whole different ballgame because it is unknown if it will change.

Anyway, I can certainly relate to LIMITED (even though I have the luxury of also watching the limitations go away).

Go baby, go baby, go baaaaaaaaaaaaby!
