You know you're too busy when you can't find a time for your fortieth birthday party.

I've been wanting to do SOMETHING memorable for this nice base-ten round number ever since a friend of mine had a great fortieth. But the scheduling! When I look at the calendar there's one weekend day free within A MONTH of it -- that is, if I insist on having Rob around, which I suppose is maybe too picky.

If you'd have asked me ten years ago, I really would have thought my life would be calm and maybe a little boring by now. Hahahahahahaha. :-)

Right now I'm going to cheat and have it before the actual birth date. I know, illegal! illegal!, but it's convenient.

Probably not the same kind of party Joe had though. :-)

I don't think Joe's was quite on his birthday either. I was bummed that my 40th passed with not a shred of fun -- I hope you don't make that mistake. One doesn't need quite that sort of party to still have a grand time! Many fun things you can dream up!

That would be a bummer, yeah. Maybe it's not too late! Throw a party on some random unbirthday date?

Naaah, the moment has passed. Though maybe I'll attempt to put a li'l more thought into doing something a bit more festive this winter for my next birthday. I haven't actually done anything particularly fun for my birthday for quite a while, which is kida sucky.

D'you have ideas yet for what you want to do for yours?

Only a couple. A wine tasting event, perhaps at a winery, perhaps with cheese pairings? But then I can't afford to invite many people. Skydive, if I can do a tandem jump with my feet the way they are, just to affirm my commitment to do wacky adventurous things? But that's kind of a "me only" activity. The only other thing I came up with is a Compliments Party -- compliment anybody or anything present or not -- but as much as I believe life would be better if people did that as often as we criticize, that might be a little too fluffy-bunny-rainbow even for me.

Sometimes a bit of fluffy-bunny-rainbow action can be just the thing. :)

I'm musing about maybe a Lego & Geomag "play party". Hang out and make cool constructions. I've got a serious collection of both, so why not take advantage? And a living room that's becoming more functional (almost) by the minute. Whee!
