Fondue yay!

(OK, I'm updating at work, bad me.) We had fondue for our social hour at work last night, with me as the chef. It went well! People liked it! Yay yay yay.

I'm always inordinately pleased when people like something I made. This fondue recipe is just about the only thing I'll admit to COOKing. Everything else I "throw together", just to make it clear that I Do Not Cook. Anyone eating food of mine needs to know what they're getting into. But the fondue, though, that's good stuff. I'm all happy that people liked it.

Sadly, quite a few folks are out sick lately, so it turns out I have LOTS of leftover cheese to use up. Maybe I'll have to declare next Wednesday "use up the cheese day" and do the whole thing again.

Oh man, I want some! Can you email me some?

I wish FTP (the Food Transfer Protocol) worked a bit better!

Yeah, we'll have to work the bugs out (maybe that's why it's not working; clogged with bugs).

Eeeewww, the Bug Transfer Protocol! Please don't send any mosquitos or cockroaches!

Sculpt the cheese into the shape of a turkey and serve it Thursday :-)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAHAHAHA! I like it!

[identity profile] tenacious-snail.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I find that fondue can be warmed up and served on tortellini or ravioli.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhh yes. Leftover fondue can be eaten in lots of delicious ways. (Sadly, what I have now is leftover cheese, but if I get off my butt I can turn it into leftover fondue before it turns green.)

if it is grated, I just toss it in the freezer.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. I need to grate about four pounds yet!

[identity profile] tenacious-snail.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you need to buy big freezer bags.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
*nod* Gallon-size works for a pound, grated. That'll do! :-)

Cheese, Grommit! - Wallace (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104361/)

Mmmmm, fondue. I recall a Thanksgiving at Arbor House which was all fondue, so your plan is appropriate.

I liked that one! The movie, that is; I wasn't at Arbor House for the Thanksgiving you mention. I love the little details in Wallace and Gromit movies. "Cheese vacations" magazine, for example :-)

Yes, or finding out Gromit's alma mater in the feature film. (Which I will eventually see all of, though apparently only piecewise. I catch segments of it while Ike watches.)

We should have you come on over next time Corey's in town. She has that on DVD and has played it for us.

=gropes for something funny to say about megaquantities of cheese=

=fails completely=

=slinks off silently=

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughter*

"Sometimes 'cheesy' is good"? Best I could come up with. I'll slink off too!

[identity profile] rampling.livejournal.com 2006-11-18 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Drat -- I'm even further than usual to offer to come help you out with that. Well, at least I have my spectacularly yummy memories of your fondue -- mmmmmm!

I'll just have to content myself with still more paneer here. Ohhh, that's really NOT suffering! :)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-18 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
MMMMMMM FONDUE! MMMMMMM PANEER! I am envious of you, eating all that SCRUMPTIOUS food. Perhaps if you describe it in great detail, the rest of us can "share"! ;-)

i want to attend an event called "use up the cheese day!"

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds pretty good to cheese-lovers like us, doesn't it? I'd go!

[identity profile] hitchhiker.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
ooh - sounds wonderful :) i'll have to visit next time!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Next time you're in the Bay Area, give me some notice, and I may very well be able to make you some fondue. I bet we could entice Clare to come share it.
