I found the title.

I just about cried with relief. I am crushingly overloaded right now, and this takes a lot of work off my plate.

I've had it all along. For thirteen years I've thought I didn't. I've had the loan paid notice too. For thirteen years these have sat quietly in a file folder, inside the envelope in which they were originally mailed to me.

State Farm says I just mail the Massachusetts title to them and they'll deal. They're going to mail me paperwork. (Let the haggling begin.)

Woohoo! It's great when things come together like that. :) And I suppose that's all the more incentive for me to put my title someplace safe!

Yes indeedy! This box of financial papers is one I probably figured I could safely pitch. It wasn't even inside the house; it was in the garage. I'm glad I found the folder.
