I found the title.

I just about cried with relief. I am crushingly overloaded right now, and this takes a lot of work off my plate.

I've had it all along. For thirteen years I've thought I didn't. I've had the loan paid notice too. For thirteen years these have sat quietly in a file folder, inside the envelope in which they were originally mailed to me.

State Farm says I just mail the Massachusetts title to them and they'll deal. They're going to mail me paperwork. (Let the haggling begin.)

Yay :)

I have the title

"Queen of the Universe"? ;-)

Yay!

That would be superb! Step 1: daylight saving(s) time is immediately and permanently abolished. Step 2: starting this afternoon I get someone new added to the mobile team at work. Step 3: every doctor in the universe takes one day off their normal schedule and confers about my feet. Problem solved. Step 4: I get a teleporter. Step 5: Moonstruck Chocolates has a computer glitch resulting in regular anonymously-donated shipments to a certain address in Indianapolis.

I could go on. This is fun!

I like that 5-step list. I like it a lot. Not to be greedy, but any chance of adding a Step 6 for my brain to get instantly filled with the knowledge I need for a kick-ass Ph.D. dissertation in meteorology? ;-)

This is one less thing to worry about for both of us!

I am SO relieved.

Shortly after the State Farm call, I got a call from someone who wanted to take away the car. I managed to let her know that we haven't even STARTED the paperwork yet and it would be a while!

Do dealers have any analog to "fleet sales" for certified used cars? A used hybrid is intriguing, but I soooo don't want to haggle...
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 07:14 pm (UTC)
Nope--used cars are used cars. And I'd worry about a used hybrid just because of the lifespan of the batteries.
When I was looking at cars, I found that the Scion xA was pretty nice, as long as you made sure to get the side airbags. Scion is a 'no haggle' car, much like Saturn, but they had a really nice '05 at Courtesy Chevrolet the other day. Don't know if it's still there, but it was still under factory warranty.

Darn. Going used is now the only way to get the little yellow stickers. There are a large handful of 2005 Civic hybrids -- batteries only a year old -- on the Anderson Honda lot, but they are definitely not a no-haggle place...
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 08:34 pm (UTC)
How come you can't get the yellow stickers on a new once?
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 09:16 pm (UTC)
They ran out.

This is one of those governmental bureaucracy things that's just gonna make me crazy if I think about it, isn't it?
Friday, September 8th, 2006 04:38 am (UTC)
When they approved issuing stickers to hybrids (before they were only available for electric cars), the number of stickers was limited. I think to 75k, and there were 55k registered hybrids in the state at the time, but you know, those car manufacturers, they keep crankin' em out...

Why? There were concerns about the amount of load being added to the carpool lanes.

I just read [livejournal.com profile] ambar's reply.

In other words, "yes." :-)

If you know exactly which one you want, I can make a call on your behalf, but I need to know that you're going to walk in and buy it, not change your mind. That's why used car haggling is so much harder.
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 09:17 pm (UTC)
Good to know. I will definitely NOT ask for that unless I am absolutely committed.

(I'm still also very interested in a regular normal Civic sedan. Thoughts percolating. When they're done, my subconscious will Tell Me, and I will suddenly have no more doubts. Weird...)

I bought a new Accord at Anderson Honda a few years ago and it was very much no-haggle. Went to the Internet sales manager, he quoted a price, I noted that was lower than the price from carsdirect.com I was using as a baseline, and we shook on it. Don't know that used sales would necessarily work anything like that, but it might be worth checking.

YAAAY! Good luck with the rest of it, may it all go smoothly

Too efficient! Right where you put 'em! Yay for being able to do it the easi(er) way.
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 09:19 pm (UTC)
It amazes me when something is right where I put it. I'm particularly surprised this time because I have no memory of ever seeing this thing before! :-)

YAY!!!!!

Woohoo! It's great when things come together like that. :) And I suppose that's all the more incentive for me to put my title someplace safe!
Thursday, September 7th, 2006 09:19 pm (UTC)
Yes indeedy! This box of financial papers is one I probably figured I could safely pitch. It wasn't even inside the house; it was in the garage. I'm glad I found the folder.
