Wow, these guys just rock, don't they? This stock has yet again achieved a value it had in late 2001. And here we thought prices like that were fleeting. I don't think they'll break their October 2002 record (especially adjusted for splits), but I'm still impressed. I'd have guessed it would be difficult to reproduce the results of those days in today's environment.

Okay, I'm being snide. Seriously though, in 2002 I would have predicted it would be a lot healthier than this by 2006.

Disclaimer: It's been years since I worked for this company and I am happy about that fact.

Or at least push the conclusions in various directions.

A bit longer term view (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=BRCM&t=2y&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=)

Not that I wasn't happier back three months ago, mind you, but I didn't expect that bump to last forever. I was delighted that it happened right after we bought the house, though.

Yeah, I also commit the horrific crime of sentence fragments. I am so ashamed.

If you want a longer-term view, we need to ski THIS slope.

As I said, I wouldn't have expected back in 2002 that things would look like this today. I am no optimist; I am rarely surprised in this direction. :-)

Not that this is wrong, necessarily, but IMHO stocks are just legalized gambling. With a hell of a lot more stakeholders than just the direct gamblers (shareholders).

Oh, sure. Yet there are trends to be seen over the very long haul, and there's some illusion that the value of a stock relates in some way to what the company is "really" (?) worth. It's interesting to smack my head against that illusion.

Yeah, similarly, I remember a period of time at $FormerEmployer, when our sales were great and our intellectual property was promising and the quarterly #s were repeatedly in the black. Yet our stock was in the tank. WTF? :-)

Ah, if only I could read the mind of a crowd. Too bad a crowd is not guaranteed to have one.

So true. I've been down that rant before. ;-)
