Sleepy Friday

Crampy doom today.

Rob's off to the Northeast for a week and a half. I sleepily bid him goodbye early this morning. The house seems emptier when he has left for a long trip, as if it knows he isn't just out with students for the afternoon.

As soon as Rob left, a cat got on the bed and curled up next to me. Awww! I guess it's impossible to be too lonely when there are affectionate furforms around.

I found and bid on some geta on eBay. I hope I win 'em. They're *close* to the right size, which is rare. I'll have to rework the straps and wear them with gel cushions. If that works, the spectre of "YOU WILL DO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO YOUR HEELS [by wearing post-op shoes]" will be gone!

Square dance calling this weekend, and the second flight of my BFR.

What's a geta?

Oo, I should put a link. Geta are Japanese sandals traditionally worn with the kimono. Anything with a separate heel can be called "geta" but the ones I'm interested in are shaped like this:

They can also be much less prettified, like this:

Basically, they are flat and rigid and don't have any support under the toe. Much like my post-op shoes except not slanted! :-)

My stalls and my landings were both WAY better than last week. That's a relief, as I'd been starting to talk myself into the "I never was good, so it will take a long time to improve from here" mindset. He also pulled the power on me -- usually an indication of progress :-)

Sadly it'll probably be two weeks until I can fly again.
