Oo, I should put a link. Geta are Japanese sandals traditionally worn with the kimono. Anything with a separate heel can be called "geta" but the ones I'm interested in are shaped like this:

They can also be much less prettified, like this:

Basically, they are flat and rigid and don't have any support under the toe. Much like my post-op shoes except not slanted! :-)
