Gotta give this a few points for sheer passive-aggressiveness. "The Feds didn't move fast enough in Katrina? All right, how about having the Department of Defense and its armed troops automatically in charge from the get-go?"

My laugh isn't a pleasant relaxed chortle. This state of denial ("It'll never pass") takes effort to maintain.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Further federalization of government power is disturbing amidst the finger pointing that I've heard about in the last while. Who's going to be the scapegoat if this comes to pass? Who will accept responsibility for direction of the government's resources? I fear no one.

Regrettably, given the tenor of 'things' in the last few, I can't hold much hope for "It'll never pass".

Of course, with more control from the start, they can more effectively administer the salvage and rebuilding contracts.
