Still a little too early to tell, perhaps, but if I push on the ball of my foot with my thumb it hurts in an old familiar way. (Non-numb area.)

Well, crud.

Footnotes and Disclaimers, to save some typing.
- Yes, there is still the possibility that my overall pain level will be better than before. In fact, that's probably still likely.
- Yes, I am sure this is not post-op pain masquerading as something else (it's in the wrong place, for one thing, and it's waaaay too familiar).
- Yes, it helps that an outcome of "partial improvement" was pretty much obvious from the start: the blow is softened just a little.
- No, I'm not particularly looking for sympathy -- no obligation to comment -- I'm just disappointed and I don't yet have much energy to face the next steps.

I hope it's just still too early to tell. I'm not in your head or your feet, and I don't know how feet compare but after my hernia repair surgeries, I still had pain for quite some time afterward, even what seemed like the same pre-op symptoms.

*hugs*

Thanks. The fact that the pain is not right near where the surgery was done is a less-than-hugely-hopeful sign... but hey, maybe the whole area will do some shifting and resettling, and this stuff too will fade. Seems like a long shot, but I can't rule it out completely.
