I finally tried the plastic bag thing in the shower. Two bags on each foot, each layer taped to my calf.

A little-known fact of physics: slippery footing gets worse by a factor of at least three when you have your eyes closed and soap all over your face.

But I'm clean! I'm clean! Ahhhhhhh! I could rinse my hair with BOTH hands. I could get my legs wet. I could wash my backside. I could stand in the spray and rinse myself in seconds. Every detail was a new joy -- I was having multiple mental orgasms over how wonderful it was to be clean.

I can't wait to be able to wash my feet. I might just pass out with bliss.

That's true. Luckily [livejournal.com profile] usqueba is able to shower and get her wounds wet, but not soaked... (Hysterectomy on Tuesday...) I am a "I like to shower every morning or I don't feel ready to face the day".. and I'll admit I like having a clean backside and other parts. :)

Keep getting better though! You'll be able to run again or something eventually, right? :)

Ooo, good luck to [livejournal.com profile] usqueba. I hope she recovers swiftly! When I had abdominal surgery I too was able to get the incision (well, the dressings) wet. This "keeping it dry" concept is a new one on me.

No one knows yet whether I'll be able to run again. This surgery fixed problem number one out of three. The other two have no easy solution. Once I'm recovered a bit we get to see how much of my pain was this and how much was the other two.
