Anybody heard anything from psi_star_psi and aelfie? He took time out of his frantic pre-paternity-leave work day to give me that adjustable bed table; her twins are due any freakin' second if they haven't already arrived. joedecker, allanh, any news?

They're not here yet. Technically, they're due at the end of the month. Realistically, her doctor is talking about inducing this week, depending upon how her blood pressure is doing. I'm scrambling at work to polish off as many loose ends as I can before I disappear for two months.

(Although, given the distinct streak of irony in both of our families ... I could certainly myself sitting a steaming pot of something delicious down in front of you both at our house, and Jen suddenly announcing, "Oh, FUCK, they're HERE. NOW. And we haven't even started eating yet.")

I'm still here. This advanced state of pregnancy is wrecking hell with my hands (elbow, shoulders, neck). Hurts to type a lot. So I've been reading. You can sit at low numbers, like 2 cm, for weeks on end. Joy. I'm happy 'cause it means part of the job is already done.

We'll put up an announcement here probably within the first 24 hours. We won't leave everyone on tenderhooks.

Although I refuse to Blackberry it like some people I could mention. (As if I had one)

I'm sorry, Jen. I can't help myself. Some people with OCD organize their sock drawers. *I* have to correct word usage errors.

Two corrections:

1. "This advanced state of pregnancy is wreaking hell with my hands..."

And ...

2. "We won't leave everyone on tenterhooks."

(And just so everyone knows, the Blackberry person WASN'T ME. I refuse to own a Blackberry, and I now call them "CrackBerries" ... because they make people who own them act like they're on crack half the time.)

Wow, what is it that messes up your elbow/shoulders/neck? Inflammation? I'd imagine the lower body would ache just because of the increased weight and the fatigue.

I had no idea about that 2cm. Fascinating. Human bodies are mind-boggling.

I don't know who used the Blackberry but I can take a guess. heh. Speaking of the person who is my guess, you'll NEVER IMAGINE who showed up in town again! Rick is in the area for about a month.

Someone recently asked me about him, oddly enough, and I had to admit I had no idea whether he was still alive. That was maybe a day or two before his phone call.

He hasn't changed one iota. It's amazing. (I prolly haven't either, but let's not mention that bit, eh?)

I'm not surprised that he's same as he ever was. He has always struck me as, hmmm, stable might not be the word I'm looking for, maybe "fixed". (Though that might have other connotations for cat people.) Had I more time in the near future, I'd be interested to see him and hear how he's doing. I'll have to make do with second-hand info I expect. Do let me know what you end up at liberty to reveal.

Sorry, I should've said "someone else asked me". That conversation went a lot like the one between you and me. That could have been a clue, of course. When I get asked multiple times in only a few days, that's foreshadowing and he's bound to show up.

I suspect he's pretty much exactly the person he wants to be, so why mess with it? I'm guessing, of course.

I'm sure he'd be interested in doing lunch some time -- all depends what your schedule looks like. He's been flying a light sport aircraft for training and demos, bopping around the country. He got a gig at a high-tech company doing UNIX sysadmin stuff on short notice, and since they were willing to pay him a bucket of money, he took it. He still has the trailer at the hang-gliding place in Florida (someone at that airport is feeding Isis and Callie). His hair is shorter. :)

No, no, no. Contrary to "mainstream" theory, surreal is not equivalent to wicked. (Or is that the thesis of the musical?) Which is the whole point of my and Jen's circle of friends. I will definitely have to see how my schedule works out. I had lunch with husband-o-Blackberry-user today, so it fits my sense of humor if I can manage lunch with him and Rick in the same week.

No, you're not being dense at all. Sorry. I drift into total obscurity on occasions. ("What, only occasions?" I can already hear Jen saying.) My only excuse is that I come with a warning label (see picture).

I started out referring to your comment about foreshadowing. The full line is "By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes." - Macbeth, some guy

Then I was denying that wicked applied to Rick, who is "merely" surreal. Too many people amongst the Vast North American Mouth-Breathing Public don't seem to be able to tell the difference. (Then I referred to the musical Wicked, since it is topical.) And I wrapped up with a declaration that all of Jen and my's friends are plenty surreal, since that's the way we like them.

Of course, most of that semantic content is totally missing from my original phrasing. I think I'm too clever by several halves sometimes, but Dennis Miller I ain't.

Blegh. I hope the edema is supposed go away shortly after the twins' birth. And do you still have that cold/flu/allergy thing going on? I am now imagining you massaging that magic spot on your hand furiously. :)

The edema goes away magically within 24 hours post partum (you lose the equivalent of the babies weight in fluids in that time period. At that rate I should be really close to pre-pregnancy within 24 hours.)

Allergy attack ended after a few days thankfully.

I would be massaging that spot if I could remember where it was! =)
