I'm home and feeling remarkably chipper. No pain at the moment -- local hasn't worn off. Muscles still a tiny bit shaky from IV sedation.

They took a photo of each foot open, and a photo of each lump of ick that was removed. I looked at them on the camera. I think they're probably *not* appropriate for user icons. :-)

I'm lying on the couch with my feet propped up, surrounded by everything I could possibly want: snacks, water, phone, painkillers, ice packs, books, laptop, and a small handful of cats. Life is good.

Welcome home!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:17 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Woohoo!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:21 pm (UTC)
Welcome home. Any feedback from the doctors as to how successful the surgery went? How long are you off your feet?
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:31 pm (UTC)
No feedback yet, which is probably good news -- for some patients the doctors went out to talk to the partners (we signed consent forms for that).
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:25 pm (UTC)
Glad you're home and doing well so far. Take care!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:59 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Walking in these shoes when I can't feel my feet at all is weeeeeeeird. :-)

I bet you're glad it's over! Welcome back. :-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:02 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Yes, I feel like I've waited forever for this. There's also the usual gladness that a possibly-unpleasant medical procedure is over and done with. :-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:27 pm (UTC)
wow! Congrats and best wishes on your recovery.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:02 pm (UTC)
Thank you!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:33 pm (UTC)
May your recovery be swift and painless!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:02 pm (UTC)
From your mouth to God's ears! Thank you.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:35 pm (UTC)
Aw, no fair! If you're not going to use the photos as user icons, at least let us have a look, please?

I've been sans LJ for a while, so I didn't know you were getting the surgery. Fantastic! I hope you have very little pain in recovery and that the results improve your life.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:04 pm (UTC)
Oh, sure, I'll post 'em behind a cut. I just didn't want to subject EVERYONE to them.

Thanks! I'm hoping for the best. There's other damage besides the nerve tumors, so I probably won't be 100% pain-free after recovery, but at least ONE thing's fixed.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:39 pm (UTC)
Yay! And recover well and quickly!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:04 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Fingers crossed!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:47 pm (UTC)
Yay! Glad you're feeling chipper, and you've got everything you could want. :-)

The lumps of ick remind me of when I had a cyst taken out from the inside of my elbow - if they're at all similar, I could see not making a user icon. :-)

Recover well.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:05 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Yeah, I'm happy to post pictures behind a cut (as soon as I get 'em off the camera and figure out how to do the LJ photo thing) but subjecting *everyone* to 'em is probably a bit much. :)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:50 pm (UTC)
good luck in your recovery!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:05 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I'm being a good girl and putting ice on 'em like the doctor says. Very odd not to feel it. :-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 05:58 pm (UTC)
New usericons!!! :)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:06 pm (UTC)
Bwaha! Maybe the picture of me in my gown lying in the rolly-bed. The others should probably be behind a cut! :-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:00 pm (UTC)
I'm glad you are home and I hope you heal quickly.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:06 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I feel very lucky to be in such comfort at this stage.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:14 pm (UTC)
May everything continue to go well. I've been watching very closely, though not commenting much. I truly hope this makes things better.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:07 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I am positive that it at least won't make things worse. It solves one known problem. That's gotta be a good thing.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:34 pm (UTC)
"They took a photo of each foot open, and a photo of each lump of ick that was removed. I looked at them on the camera. I think they're probably *not* appropriate for user icons. :-)"

Well darn de darn darn darn; no fun. LOL. Yes, I am glutton for punishment but I am also the sicko who wanted pathology pictures of her brain tumor :)
Glad you are home and recovering as well as can be expected, may that process continue free of complications.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:09 pm (UTC)
Heh, I'll post 'em behind a cut (some folks are curious). I am the same kind of sicko. I was elated to get the video of my abdominal surgery. :-)

Thank you!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:37 pm (UTC)
Yay, it's over. Now the healing begins. I'd actually like to see the pics cause I'm the type who watches operations on TV. You could put them behind a cut of course ;-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:09 pm (UTC)
Indeed, now... it's healing time! (As opposed to Miller time.) Yeah, I'll put them behind a cut as soon as I figure out the LJ photo thing.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:50 pm (UTC)
Great that you're feeling chipper! Hope your recovery continues so well!

I look forward to the gory pix, of course -- I didn't make my gory pix into icons either. ;)

Sounds like you're well-settled-in for a nice relaxing and well-stocked recovery. Yay! *healing-hugs*
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:10 pm (UTC)
Thanks! I feel SPOILED to be in such comfort at this stage! Wow!

Yeah, I will look up the LJ photo hosting stuff and see if I can use that to post pix.

Thursday, August 4th, 2005 06:52 pm (UTC)
Yay for being home and comfy!

Are the cats trying to figure out what's with your feet, or are they just doing the "something's wrong with Mom!" stuff?

And I'm not big on gory pics, but I'm curious :-)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:13 pm (UTC)
The cats are noticing that Mom's holding still and is thus a prime target for: (Duchess) whining for scritches, ([livejournal.com profile] jackiecat) head-butting on my hands with occasional breaks to go attack a cat toy, and (Little Girl) sitting on my belly and trying to eat my pretzels.

I'll (figure out how &) post the pics under a cut.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:12 pm (UTC)
*hug* Glad you are home!

Ok, that is seriously gross in a "oooh my innards" kind of way. But you know I would probably look too ;)
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:14 pm (UTC)
Thanks! I cannot resist gory pictures even when they make me feel like I'd better go lie down for a while. I love the fact that I have the video of my abdominal surgery from a few years back.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:22 pm (UTC)
Glad you're home with good stuff nearby!

Maybe you could make an icon of that shoe instead.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:25 pm (UTC)
Thank you! Oo, yeah, didn't think of the shoe. I'm still holding out for getting a good picture of one of the MRI images...
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:35 pm (UTC)
*gentle hugs* I do hope you stay well and not in too much pain!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:43 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I feel almost spoiled, being so comfy at the moment (since the local hasn't worn off)!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:46 pm (UTC)
I'm so glad you're home, and I hope you continue to feel okay. The operation's over!
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 08:09 pm (UTC)
YEE HA! The nervous-making icky medical stuff with NEEEEEEEEEEEEDLES is all done! Now it's just gonna hurt, and though I may whine, hurt I can cope with.
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 07:48 pm (UTC)
Yay! You're through it!

*hugs you*
Thursday, August 4th, 2005 08:10 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Yeah, I get nervous and fidgety about medical procedures, especially those involvind *shudder* neeeeeeeeedles. That part's done! The painful part is yet to come, but all I gotta do is go easy on myself.

Good to hear you're home and on the mend. May your recovery be swift and complete!
Friday, August 5th, 2005 06:15 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I'm being very good & doing what the doctor says, which is soooo not my usual style ;-), so hopefully I'll heal up well!
Friday, August 5th, 2005 04:48 am (UTC)
I hope you're on your feet and dancing soon!

Take care of yourself and be patient with yourself while you heal.
Friday, August 5th, 2005 06:16 pm (UTC)
Ah, you bolded the difficult part... do you know me or what?

I'm being good, really, honest I am. I'm doing what the doctor said. :-)
