If you call me...

If you call me CJ, you know me.
If you call me Carol, you don't know me yet, or you're my sister.
If you call me Kaya, you're the toddler half-brother of a guy I dated in college. If you call me Puff, you're that guy.
If you call me She-Jay, you're my Japanese teacher.
If you call me Tiger Kitten, you're on eBay, or you're Joe.
If you call me Ms. Smith, you're a store clerk or bank teller.
If you call me Mrs. French, you're a telemarketer, and I tell you truthfully that she's in Kentucky and then I hang up.
If you call me Ma'am, you're in the Army, or I'm in Georgia.
If you call me Mistress... mmmmm.

*laugh*

I've given up correcting well-meaning folks who call me "Mrs. Davidson." It's just too hard to explain that that's Mrs. Davidson is my mom, and that if I were "Mrs. Anything" I'd be "Mrs. Hemsley," except that my husband changed his name and I didn't, so would that now make me "Mrs. MacIain," even though I never changed my name?? And let's just not get into the fact that Akien's daughter's last name is Collins, shall we?

I didn't know anyone could call you Mistress. Hmmm. Maybe we should talk. ;^)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty confusing! Wow!

I don't correct the well-meaning ones either, but telemarketers ... let's just say I'll be polite to them by not wasting their time. Yeah, that's what I'll call it.

Calling me Mistress has... other ramifications... ;)

Air Force, Ma'am, Air Force!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I stand corrected! Any branch of the armed services would have called me Ma'am. But most of 'em were army for the simple reason that that's where I was.

If you call me CJ, you know me.

Think that is what I always call you when I post.

If you call me Ma'am, you're in the Army, or I'm in Georgia.

If I didn't know you could I claim Northern parents with manners of the south when calling you ma'am

If you call me Mistress... mmmmm

Hmmmmm vedy interesting....(slight smile comes to my face)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
could I claim Northern parents with manners of the south when calling you ma'am

Yes indeed. In fact, I've picked up the general "ma'am and sir" of the South and carried it, in diluted form, with me in my various travels. I don't think Californians find it very odd.

Hmmmmm vedy interesting....

Didn't figure you'd be too surprised. ;)

Well not too surprise

[personal profile] chiefted 2004-03-10 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't figure you'd be too surprised. ;)

Well not too surpise.. and forgive me for saying this but though you would be um.....ok on the other side of that equation. Don't know why just did.

Forgive me Mistress *s*

Forgive me Mistress *s*

No need even to ask, it is granted, as you are merely displaying your superior knowledge of me. As with many things in life, I'm on both sides of the equation!

Now I'm seriously tempted to fill "lvalue seeking rvalue" into a personal ad :)

*schnorfle* :)

Reminds me of an old humor bit orbiting the 'net. My ideal boyfriend/girlfriend is: a) good-looking and charming, b) intelligent and creative, c) extensible and polymorphic.

LOL! I *like* that. Or as a slashdot poster put it, "Fast cars, fast women and fast algorithms - what more could you ask?"

[identity profile] redgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Mistress CJ.....

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, my humble but oh so worthy one?

Great, now I'm tongue-tied....

[identity profile] redgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-03-12 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
...which, come to think of it, might not be a BAD thing ::evil grin::!

But if you're tongue-tied, how can you... hmm... must think on this. ;-)

Where there's a will, there's a way. And, baby, believe me there is a will! ;)

[identity profile] quasigeostrophy.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Can I call you "Mistress"? ;-)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you prepared to? ;-)

[identity profile] quasigeostrophy.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Grasshopper must take first step sometime. ;-)

::fans self::

[identity profile] zyxwvut.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm amazed that you haven't gotten *more* mileage out of that last line. %-}

Z

P.S.: I like "She-Jay"... you're femmy enough for it, right? ;-D

GREAT new usericon!

She-Jay is kind of a cute one. Actually, it's my teacher who reminds me of a little bird. Small, tidy, quick-moving.

[identity profile] gs.livejournal.com 2004-03-10 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I like "Mistress Tiger Kitten".

She-Jay is pretty good too.

And then there's Smiley-Thumbs Up.
