Tuesday (before cramps attacked in any major way): ran 3 miles in 35:45.
Today: ran 4 miles, guesstimated by time (fifty minutes).

BOUGHT SHOES! GS, the mission was a success. Didn't get the ones they were holding for me; the obviously super-competent saleswoman said "you're pronating, try THIS one" and it felt much better. I was surprised at the difference in my, er, foot posture?, when running versus standing. Standing, I pronate slightly; running, it's dramatic. I'm glad to have good shoes. They were fiendishly expensive. Ten percent discount when I mentioned Bay to Breakers, though!

Also bought Neosporin-Plus-Pain-Relief goo. Took apart the blister-storm on my left foot; covered the result with goo and nice dressing with surgical tape all over it. Feels no worse now. The way my skin tends to go, it should be toughened up pretty well in two days.

Oooh!! Where did you get your shoes?

Pronation is one of the complicating factors with my toe annoyance! (I'm supposed to be doing 10 straight leg calf stretches 3x/day to help it... but so far I have been mostly terrible at remembering to DO the stretches!)

New Balance, in? on? Santana Row in San Jose. I recommend them, if only for the gal who helped me! The person I saw was young, curly-haired, and of Asian descent, but unfortunately I can't identify her any more precisely than that. I hate when I don't remember to read the name tag of someone really GOOD!

I had no idea my ankles fell so badly when I ran. When I stand, it's slight, so I thought it was always slight. Silly me!

Good run! I hope the shoes do the trick. My guess is that they will.

I hope so too! I'm not running this morning -- I'll trade Saturday's "cross training" to today, so that I can get ready to head out for a hiking-heavy trip. After I get back from the weekend I'll know how well they work. I'm hopeful!
