30-minute run today: check

I was able to stretch two-and-a-small-fraction miles out to be half an hour. I'm impressed! At that pace, I could spend nearly two hours running Bay-to-Breakers. And that's if it didn't have hills. Or crowds.

I'm beginning to feel the lack of any exercise whatsoever above the waist. My arms, back, and abs could really use some help. I suppose soon it will be getting quite warm out. Maybe I'll chop off my hair and start swimming.

Am trying to figure out how, and whether, to try to run two miles before Thursday morning's laparoscopy. I'm sure I won't be doing it after.

Cool, thanks! What are butterfly lifts? Is that the one where you lie on your back, arms straight out to the sides, then move your arms in a smooth arc to make the dumbbells meet just over your chest? Do the palms face each other or face toward your toes?

You've got the exercise. Palms face inboard, toward each other.

If your arms are sore after the first set, switch to lighter weights for the subsequent ones. It's more important to just do the reps than to do them with any particular weight.
