What are your comforts? I'll put some of mine behind the cut. Baking Warm blankets A cat purring Fun books that aren't full of toxic Music Sticking my head out the window to feel the sunshine
Thank you! Finally got to a desktop where I can take a look. The imagery shown in the clip on the Ghosts of Maple Creek web page looks gorgeous. If you had to pick one of these to recommend to a complete newbie, which would you suggest?
I think Ghosts of Maple Creek would give you the clearest idea of how HOPA games often work. It's one of the better ones. Though it is a horror game.
The Room is in a class by itself and I don't think, other than the sequels, there's anything like it out there in terms of sucking you in and getting you to hammer away at difficult puzzles.
Horror isn't particularly a genre I tend to go for, but I could try that one out to get a sense. The Room sounds _really_ nifty though, if it's all about getting the player to work on puzzles. :-D
Now my challenge is to AVOID getting either of these until after a phone interview tomorrow; until then my time is better spent preparing. Heh.

Ooo, point and click puzzle adventure games? What are those? They sound like something I might enjoy.

The Ghosts of Maple Creek is a favorite of mine, though it is quite old.
They're puzzles and object collection games where you're playing a character and advancing in a story.
The Room was the first one I ever played.
Both of those stories are a bit dark, but kinda cool.
https://www.artifexmundi.com/g/ has a lot of them.
