I can imagine! It's Texas where this date meant a true change. I never heard of Juneteenth as a child growing up in New England, either. California also mostly hasn't heard of it (web browsers still squiggle spell-correct about it, and I said happy Juneteenth in a meeting today and got a table full of blank looks).
