I am here to tell you, in case you are one of the lucky people who does not already know, that an endometrial biopsy collection is not pleasant. (I mean, I’ve had worse. But I sure wouldn’t do this for fun.)

Oh, totally with you on that.

(I had one as my 'let us make sure there's no reason not to do an IUD' a couple of years ago, and yeah, ugh, decidedly uncomfortable. And in really hard to describe ways.)

Yes! Not quite in the ways I would have expected. Very weird.

God but I hate having these body parts. Single worst aspect of my life: female body.

My sympathy to her! Yeah, it’s amazing that half of humanity still puts up with all this yuck in the 21st century. Wish we could come up with some workarounds.

It sounds hideous. Last summer I had a biopsy done of my uterine lining, and it was a freaking nightmare.

Yep, that’s exactly it. At least they didn’t give me time to stew over it. Just “okay, we’re going to do this now.”

Given some of the things I've been through before the uterus was yanked, I can imagine it would be unpleasant. :(

While not having one has its advantages (more space for your bladder was an unexpected bonus), major surgery and its recovery is not exactly fun.

I don't remember the biopsy being a very big deal. But it was nearly 5 years ago now, so maybe my brain decided not to focus on some of those details.

I agree that major surgery isn’t fun. Major surgery at 51 is also less fun than it would have been at age 20. I do wish, though, that someone had listened to 20-year-old me when I said I was never going to use this thing and please please could I get rid of it. My quality of life between then and now would have been indescribably better.

Ah well. So it goes.

I can say definitively that that (the yanking) was not a good time, either. We started out searching for reasons why I was anemic and ended up with "well, it ain't cancerous but it ain't right either" and I got a six week vacation of which the first four weeks were totally miserable.

On the other hand, if I ignore the whole getting back into shape issues (my abs hate me), it's been brilliant after that.

Yeah, I have had other surgeries and the recovery is never fun. But I'm a firm believer in balancing a one-time cost (even if high) against a permanent ongoing improvement. I'm near the end of the time span when that balance comes out well, and I'm deeply resentful that I didn't have this done when the benefits could have lasted several more decades.

Yeah, they're done so frequenty, for symptoms that are so ordinary. I hope your results come out OK.

True. On the other hand, I’d far rather be cautious. I have that much “medical brain” in me.
