Swine flu

My information about the swine flu situation comes from two sources:

1) the WHO web site and the people who link to it

2) LJ and Facebook people going AAAAAAH NOBODY PANIC! STOP PANICKING! SERIOUSLY, CUT IT OUT RIGHT NOW!

Has anybody seen anybody panicking? The news may be full of stories describing panic; note the total lack of traditional news media in my info list above. Has anyone here seen or talked to someone who was off their nut about it?

I wouldn't take Furbs and Delta to the dog park when they were under a year old because of Parvo. I wanted them to have had a vax and booster first.

Parvo is so nasty.

It even kills healthy pups... like the Swine Flu.
So when I think of it like that- exposing my loved ones to risk- loved ones who cannot make their own decisions- then my Tiny Baby Having Friends don't seem so crazy.

I have gotten completely teary eyed thinking of Delta or Fur battling parvo.

It's awful. If something's fatal, I sure wish it wouldn't cause so much SUFFERING first. (I feel this way about a lot of diseases, actually. If there's no hope for me, then give me enough time to finish my paperwork and then get the effing job done. I guess it's a little reminiscent of why pneumonia was called "the old man's friend".)

I am so glad all my dogs are over a year old and vaxxed like motherfuckers. I am not sure what that means, BTW.
We've had 8 or 9 parvo dogs, and never lost one yet, but I can't say that I felt good about not putting them down early. Especially when they are orphans and costing us a grand-plus. I am pragmatic about animals that don't sleep in my bed.

Good point; parvo isn't *definitely* fatal, so it doesn't fall into that "no hope" category. But man, it's got to be horrific for those dogs who go through it.
