I got myself breakfast, INCLUDING saying "take out" in Japanese, and I even managed to ask for the NAME of what it was I was eating! (Pointing to pictures on a laminated menu card is a wonderful thing.)

I have been eating kuroku mushu - croque monsieur. :)

Tomorrow morning, I'll ask for it correctly instead of by pointing! Wheeeee!

Aren't they great? Best part: they're written in an entirely different alphabet, so you know exactly which stuff to try to decode first!

French "fast food". In Tokyo. What a world this is.

(Admittedly, that's one of my favorite things to get when in France, but it's certainly not the first thing I would associate with Japan.)

The world's a pretty nifty place, yep! :) One of the things I love is seeing how everybody changes a dish just a bit. Kuroku mushu isn't what you'd get in France, but it's recognizably a hot ham and cheese sandwich just the same.

Today's the last day my friend Richard's teaching dance in Tokyo. Unfortunately, he flies back immediately after and won't be able to drop by the Yellow Ribbon weekend. Have fun.

Oh well! As small as the world is, it's still sometimes a bit big. :)

Yay you!

I had kurokku mushu in Yokohama. It was on a waffle and came with green salad. I want to go back so bad.

Hah! That sounds sooooo Japanese! I love it.
