As sickened as I am, I am not suprised that this happened. There are so, so many cases CPS departments don't do what they are supposed to do. My mother works in a school and has been routinely disgusted with CPS.
Heinous indeed! How about this one (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14391-2002Apr19.html) where the airline lost an Alzheimer's patient. Months ago!
Huh. I have a little less outrage over that one, simply because the woman wasn't legally in anyone's care (she wasn't even on a plane). Still, it's appalling how quickly a human being can just vanish, even in a crowded area. :-(
