Dentist boo

Had one filling replaced and two new ones added, bringing me to a lifetime total of four. The new ones were supposed to be fairly shallow -- after all, it took me until age forty to need anything done in the first place.

Sadly, the dentist wanted to numb me up anyway, which is deeply annoying. Grr. And now that it has worn off a bit and I can drink from a glass again, the whole right side of my face ACHES with a low-level deep throbbing kind of ache that feels as if my orthodontic wires got tightened. It's up to my cheekbone and my temple, and it's down the jaw from ear to chin.

No fun.

However, this work did get done before my dental benefits ended. Thumbs up for that.

My teeth ache in sympathy.

Oddly, my teeth themselves seem to be fine. It's like the hinge of my jaw got severely messed up.

I've had, um, a few more than that, so I'm familiar with the feeling. Sadly, I don't have enough drama in my past to take advantage of the numbness like Steve Dallas. Missed opportunities.

Does it always hurt like that?? This is going to sound wacky, but I swear, no anesthetic is a better way to go!

*hugs* i hate the drill, but the novacaine wearing of hurts an awful lot, too. :( i found sleeping it off is about the best method for dealing with it.

hooray for you making it this far with so few cavaties! whatever you're doing, keep it up!

Is this from the novocaine wearing off? Is it usual? Is it better in the morning? (I hope! I'm having trouble opening my mouth.)

i think the combination of novocaine wearing off, and the lasting effects of having your mouth jacked open for longer than necessary.

here's hoping that by tomorrow morning you'll be all better.

Improved, definitely! I hadn't felt like my jaw was really stretched -- when they're doing the very back teeth, you can't open too wide or your lips and cheeks get in the way. But wow, there was an effect, and I still have some ache today. Weeeeeird. Never had this before, even though my other early filling was also in the very back.

Having had novocaine shots that didn't work, I'll take the novacaine...

This is the first time I've had to have it. Give me the drill any day.

Disclaimer, of course: my fillings have been shallow! I feel it, but it's not screamingly awful.

Gah, I hate the dentist. I don't numb well either and after they've finally got me numbed enough, I walk out of there like I've got Bell's Palsy.

Oh BTW, Natick days is happening on September 13th while you're here. Wanna go? Boring site below.

Wow, that web site is... content-free! What IS Natick Days? It sounds like it's probably fun! I bet it's been ten years since I've seen Natick Common not under snow.

Its a fair on the common with live music in the gazebo and rows of table along the walkways selling stuff or promoting local businesses.

Here's a terrible video of the pie eating contest.

That sounds most excellent! I think I will indeed drop by, probably morning to early afternoon.

I'm torn on what to do about throwing a party in the Boston area. I'd love to meet all the folks I've never met, see people I haven't seen in twenty years, AND hang out with the MIT crowd -- and it's going to be difficult to make one event work for all that. I think I skipped every class in Social Life 101.
