The cream of zucchini soup from Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook is scrumptious. Even if you leave out the rice. (If you're looking for the recipe, they think it's "bisque". NO SEAFOOD ANYWHERE NEAR ME KTHXBYE.)

I'm thinking it would be just as good with asparagus instead of zucchini. There's still good asparagus to be had. Mmmmmmm. In fact, because I was thinking exactly that after I tasted the soup and while I was ladling it into storage containers, I labeled all the storage containers "asparagus soup"! Oh well. I know what I meant.

In other news, I still adore my stick blender.

That's one of my favorite cookbooks. I like the breakfast cereal recipes. If I could find the book, I'd tell you what else I liked.

I'm impressed that I can find stuff in there that's both easy enough for me to make and low-carb enough for me to eat at the moment. And that soup is yummy.

For the last little while, the definition of bisque has also included soups made with pureed vegetables.

Also? They'll have to pry my stick blender out of my cold, dead hand :):). That is, absolutely, my favorite small appliance.

I'm always the last to know. ;-)

It's funny how much I like that thing. I don't use it often -- so far, it's been only when I've made lentil soup and now this zucchini one. But when I use it, I realize there's no other way I'd do the job.

thanks for the bit about the labels with "asparagus soup". It's reassuring that someone else's brain (besides mine) also does that sort of thing!

I'm doing it frighteningly often lately! :-) I guess I just have a lot going on. If I'm only goofing up soup labels, that's fine.
