Here's an e-mail exchange that made me chuckle this morning.

M 10:39am: Please send a status update, particularly for Project1.
me 10:48am: Status bla bla bla Project1 detail bla.
M 10:49am: Out of Office AutoReply: I am out of the office until Wednesday August 6. I will not be reading email.

It's true, too; he's gone.

M is the kind of guy who'd take it well if I showed him these and then handed him a Pointy-Haired Boss hat.

If any of your clients ever refer to chasing bunnies, then you know which one is my company. :-)

("bunny chase": sudden crisis-style response to a newly perceived business opportunity. If you usually catch the bunny, but usually three or four others you'd had wander off while you're not paying attention, it's time to start looking at priorities. Also, if you usually get interrupted, JUST when you're about to catch the bunny but haven't yet, by a NEW bunny chase, then it's also time to start looking at priorities. We use this phrase a lot, mostly in an effort to avoid having this problem.)
