On Friday afternoon I saw my first ever X-ray of a fart. Air shows up dark on the film, y'see.

The good news is that Little Girl had no visible kidney stones. YAY! (Her kidneys were also a little shrunken and lumpy. She's gettin' older. Boo.)

'On Friday afternoon I saw my first ever X-ray of a fart.'

I see an opportunity for a userpic there!

This is opposed to farts that emit X-rays, which you're well familiar with.

"She's gettin' older. Boo."

Jason noticed over the weekend that Tremolo's eyes look cloudy if you look at them at a particular angle. I checked and I agree. I'm wondering if she's getting cataracts. :-(

I managed to capture a spark on xray film once (well, more than once, but one of them yielded a good pic, the rest interfered with chemoluminescent images that I wanted). I have it in my wallet, I think. It's cool.

My HS chemistry teacher had a framed picture of a chemical flame of a distinctive blue tint-- his buddies used a special burner to light and photograph a fart for a special graduation gift.

On Friday afternoon I saw my first ever X-ray of a fart.

Which brings to my mind one of life's big questions:

How would life be different if farts were purple?

(I've seen a purported "infrared fart video" clip on youtube and elsewhere, but assume it's a silly fake because a black cloud would be colder than the room, and I would expect the emitted gas to be body temperature, and thus white like the supposedly emitting body. And, people walking down the street or hanging around the office generally can't see in the infrared range.)

Oh my goodness. That must have made you squee out loud in the office!

I used to know someone who had a secret love of the smell of things within 24 hours or so after they died, and worked in wildlife rescue and recovery, and saw a lot of that. :( And she pretty much had to hide her "mmm, smells good" response from her coworkers. I didn't find it gross so much as very interesting to know that part of her.
