TMI

about B12 injections:

Why yes, the body does get rid of any extra BRIGHT! RED! vitamin B12 in the urine.

(Web sites differ on whether this means I put it too deep. Believe me, with a needle that short and with the placement I chose, I did NOT reach muscle.)

At least I now know that I don't need any higher dose to give my body all the B12 it'll use. Whether I'm absorbing enough or not is a separate question.

Something on the B spectrum caused, er, fluorescent yellowness, back when I was taking B supplements. I always meant to get out a black light and see if it actually glowed.

Most apropos icon of the week!

Riboflavin, probably? Now I want to see if it glows! Maybe I have some pill-form B supplements lying around somewhere. I should probably wait until my doctor is done figuring out this B12 thing, though. Darn.

Ooo. That's a frighteningly good description. :)

is the B naturally a red color, or is that added for a reason? my body doesn't like artificial colors, and nothing can prepare you for seeing such colors on *ahem* "re-entry".

i'm glad the B shots are going well.

As far as I can tell, this particular B is naturally a deep vibrant red. If you do a Google image search for "B12 injection" and you see a bunch of red things, that's basically the color of mine. Mine seems to be a little deeper red, but that may simply be the size of the bottle and the syringe.

did it give you a fright?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really. I did wonder at it a little, but I've had no worrisome symptoms, so I quickly went on to think about other possible reasons for the color. A short web search gave me the obvious. :-)
