I think that's why I've always preferred PBS or paid TV being TIVO'ed.

Commercials are just about the worst drek out there.

But then again, if that woman were on Geraldo... and she started throwing chairs... Or Reno 911... It could be worse.

Yeah, that's true: it could always be worse!

That sums up perfectly why I don't own a TV.

Ditto. And I'm impressed with the creativity of the cartoonist, who came up with the perfect way to describe it!

Absolutely, yes. :)

My TiVo solves that for me. It pulls out only the bits I like, and has them waiting for me at 3am when I can't sleep. TiVo helps me skip commercials and "learns" my preferences -- it just read my mind today, deciding on its own to record a repeat of yesterday's Nightline that had an interview with Obama on it, which I didn't find out about 'til too late to choose to record myself. I have "wish lists" for topics like "atheis*", which allows my TiVo to keep an eye out for stuff I'd never have suspected existed, and grabs me a copy. My TiVo snarfs all sorts of cool education programs for me -- thanks to it I've made a recent (successful!) project of starting to fill in the vast gaps in my knowledge of biology & genetics. "My TiVo gets me" is their latest slogan -- and for one of the few times in my life, I agree 100% with a slogan! TV with TiVo is just nothing like TV without it -- in the best possible way.

So, I can't relate to that cartoon, luckily! :)

If TiVo were a person (and sometimes I feel like it is!), we're BFF!

(No I don't actually work for them.)

Probably not – don’t want a friend with an on/off switch. I like the blog site though. Thanks for pointing it out.
