I can sorta see why people might cook. I love to bake, and that probably gives some of the same bennies. Yummy smells! Anticipation of exactly the kind of food I had my heart set on! No need (well, presuming you went to the grocery store earlier) to leave the house in the pounding rain!
On the "cooking" side of things, the bean soup is starting to smell mighty nice. That'll go well with the bread dough that's still in the fridge waiting its turn to rise and bake. (See, baking always has to come into it, with me. It's the part I can do well. (Is fondue therefore baking?))
I have the other half of the bread dough in the oven, proofing. I'll start to bake it in probably ten minutes or so. And then I get to shred cheeeeeeeeeeese, and by the time the bread is done and slightly cooled, I'll get to dip it in fondue.
...oh don't go out tonight;
there's a bread dough on the rise...

I love collecting bread books too. I have a bunch in the kitchen bookshelves.

I only have two bread books really, but neither one has everything I want.
