Internet nonexistent for me; I can borrow, briefly. I won't be able to catch up with LJ.

So far, this one seems to be a season of sadness. I'm watching my father-in-law decline rapidly. He was already in a wheelchair, with the use of only one arm (out of four limbs), but now everything is just slowing down. This year he's very different from last year. He doesn't move much; he doesn't talk much. This was a vibrant and intelligent man. He probably still is... inside there, somewhere. His wife's life revolves around turning him toward the sunlight periodically.

Then there's the son of my friend Lisa. He's a young teen who has lost most of the use of one leg following a spinal surgery that was necessary if he was going to keep using his lungs much longer. One leg is a whole lot better than the whole body, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

And of course there's Roo, who didn't make it.

Today I'm going to look, deliberately and hard, for some of the happy.

CJ, awwww...sometimes the rites of passage come all at once and the logjam can be a real trial. I wish brighter and brighter days ahead for you and yours, and joys discovered as this holiday season continues.

Hugs, sweet cyber friend!

Aw, thank you! Yeah, this is just Life and the way Life works, y'know? But it sure makes my own personal troubles seem small...
