All right, that's enough of that

51,027. Words just start showing up when I start looking at all the little holes that need spackling. Where did the other sorceress come from and how did she and my main character become friends? That was the hole I found and spackled tonight. And I never DID write the proposal. Wedding, yes; proposal, conspicuously missing. Oopsie.

Well, tough cookies. I'm ready to not see this story for several months. :-)

Hey, NaNo people? CHECK YOUR TIME ZONE. This thing could end an hour early if you don't watch out. It's a Daylight/Standard Time glitch. I know I hate it when a deadline sneaks up early and whacks me in the @#$!, so go check your profile settings.

I bet you're just about as relieved and happy as I am.

YAY! Congratulations!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I'm relieved it's done.

Congratulations!! Great job!

Thanks! Phew.

Thanks! It's nice to have the story basically all there when 50,000 rolls around. Sure, there are pieces missing, but they're little bits, and they don't need to be thought up, they just need to be written down.

And then it would need some major, serious editing. I'm not going to bother. Totally unmarketable. But fun to do.

Congrats!

Thank you! This one turned into a slogfest rather earlier than the others. I wonder why.

[identity profile] quasigeostrophy.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats for finishing! :-)

(Although I must say that watching your process has convinced me to remove doing this from my list of things I want to do sometime when I can. I think I'd get similarly frustrated and I just don't need that.)

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know why this one was such a slogfest from approximately day 17 onward. Maybe it's because I've already done three. Maybe it was because I've been through some other, unrelated angst and it drained me. Maybe it's the work busy-ness. Maybe I'm getting old. :)

How many people do you think participate in NaNoWriMo? There are at least 2 other LJ acquaintances I have on my list that are/were involved.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
79,000 last year. I don't have this year's numbers, but I'm sure it's more -- the number has been growing every year.

I'm surprised the project didn't take over LJ as it has in previous years. In 2003 and 2004 my friends list exploded with it. Everybody and his brother, it seemed, had one of those little progress bar posts every day (sometimes twice a day). That's why I thought it courteous to filter most of mine! Now the phenomenon seems to be down to "oh, who's doing this? you too? me too."

I did see that one of your friends had that interesting Bar Meter on his site. :-)

Hurrah. Do you have a celebration in mind? Shot of whiskey? Long soak in bubble-bath with a trashy "guilty pleasure" book? Extra couple of hourse of sleep?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'll do laundry and make myself something to eat OTHER than my spinach curry! It's great to have little Tupperware food units when you're busy, but my WORD I am tired of that stuff.

[identity profile] layer.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
congrats!

hopefully next year my nano intentions will not be derailed by housing and job issues and i'll be crossing with you.

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! And if I don't do it myself I'll cheer you on. A good cheering team makes a huge difference, seriously.

Congrats!!!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It felt good to get it completed a bit early.

[identity profile] wooddragon.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! Congratulations!

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2007-12-02 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Whether I take this on another time is a Very Good Question. But I'm glad I wrapped this one up tidily.

Mazel tov!
