Gah, been busy. Few chances to update LJ last few days.

Thursday:

Had a goodbye lunch for one of the oldest oldies at our company. I shall miss him. He's a fun, relaxed, smart, friendly guy.

At the lunch, another guy introduced the concept of the "Lippert distance": how many hops does it take to connect a given person to some guy named Lippert, where a hop connects two people who've had intimate relations. (I figured out that my own Lippert distance was five at most, which is amusing considering how distant he is from me socially. I may even have his name wrong; the lunch was loud-ish.) I instantly knew that I needed to coin a similar phrase in my social circle. Heh heh. It would not be the "CJ distance" or "Smith distance": too many people's numbers would be too large. No, I'm thinking of someone else... [evil cackle]

Friday:

Taxes are done! Just in time for Rob and I to disappear on a weekend trip.

We tested the hot tub last night. Mmmmm, purrr! The jets are all in the wrong places, as I guess we expected. That was a bit disappointing. But warm water is terrific, and we can turn the jets off. (Most of them. A couple need fixing.)

My long simulation runs found another hardware issue. Yay me!

Lovely lunch with [livejournal.com profile] gs. Must sit in that park more often... and I suspect both of us need to try playing with RC aircraft. :-)

Friday, later:

Beautiful flight to Sedona. Started out with a leg directly over Half Dome; I got to see Bridalveil and Nevada Falls. Both are running heavily this early in the spring. Be-yootiful! Mental note to get to Yosemite again soon. During the rest of the flight, I had fun "navigating" by sectional chart. This is a skill I don't want to lose no matter how many GPS receivers with fancy aviation capabilities we happen to have in the plane. And finally, ahhh, lovely Sedona airport at dusk.

Got a taxi into town -- that's the first time I've ever been down off that hill. The place we stayed was worth most of what we paid for it. Probably in Sedona that's a bargain. Carless, we went to the only option for dinner: a steak-and-fries kind of place across the street. Deeeeelicious. That was worth every penny. Instantly agreed to have dinner there Saturday night as well. Back at the inn, a short soak in the hot tub prepared us for immediate deep slumber as soon as we returned to the room...

You haven't even had the opal spiel yet. Pretty soon I'll think you're falling behind or something.
