Twelve lunches

My feet gave out with one batch to go, even though I was cheating by leaning on the counters and by sitting down a lot. But now I can easily make that batch tomorrow night. I've even pre-chopped the onion.

rfrench says I stunk up the whole house. I decline to write what he said after that, but I'll note that my inner eight-year-old boy found it funny and that it was quite uncomplimentary to me. Just for that, I won't share any of my curry with him.* So there.

Life is sooooooo much better than it was this afternoon. Honestly, I think I needed a good cry. Human emotions are seriously messed up. Or maybe it's just me.

As a reward for all my hard work, I think I'll drink this nice glass of very chilled Malvasia Bianca and write about a day and a half worth of NaNoWriMo.

Yeah... but it's odd; I find it stunning that someone else would do such a thing for me. I think that this Fierce Independence thing will eventually be another casualty of the feet, but there are vestiges, hoo boy -- its roots run deep.

Last fall I was laid up with pneumonia. Stone broke, too sick to go out if I even HAD money, and cats peeing the bed.
People who barely knew me brought me food, blankets, did laundry.
I know that old friends will do that, but practical strangers?!? I was humbled. And I have the "fiercely independent" thing in spades. I'm getting better about it though.

People have big hearts. I have to remember that, 'cause in the news we keep seeing psychopaths or people with cruel streaks or God knows what, but honest basic people like you and me and probably all my neighbors, we're decent folk, really. It's a good lesson. I need to keep learning it.

When I had to move in with my uncle because I'd have been living in my car otherwise, Manuels neighbor, who didn't know me from Adam, bought me boxes and tape to help me with my move.
People are basically good. My job keeps trting to convince me otherwise, but nope, people are good and generous and generally try to help.

At least it doesn't make the news nearly as often as people being truly beastly makes the news. That is indeed sad, isn't it? I've enjoyed reading helpers for an occasional dose of Humans Can Be Decent Folk.

My Husband LOVES onions. I just hold my nose and let him at it, occasionally making snide comments. It's saner that way.
And Lady Celia, you weren't a complete stranger, you were a friend of Kevin & Andy's, and a member of the Unconventional Foundation, that was enough excuse to help out.
But yeah I like being like that.
