At the drugstore yesterday I saw a package of boys' socks. These weren't for very young children; they were "size 6 - 8 1/2" according to the package. (There were no analogous socks for girls. I guess girls go directly from toddler to size 9-11. God knows they couldn't wear the boys' socks. Those aren't pink.)

I love my new socks. This is the first time in decades I've had socks that fit. The feeling of NOT having a big wad of stuff bunched up behind my ankle is heavenly.

It's the little things in life that make all the difference!

There are girls socks in a variety of sizes.

We just bought three packs of assorted colors, mostly on the pink and white end of the spectrum, but there was one dark gray pair. Jocelyn complained bitterly about the existance of those gray socks and won't even touch them.

Where did she GET it? Not from me!!!

Yeah, this store was just missing them, I guess.

Girliness must skip generations! My mom despairs of me because I won't pretty up.

Boy socks rock. My favorite socks are boy socks. Girl socks are too damned thin, often, and I get blisters. Boy socks have padding, fit well, don't slide down or bunch up or grip too tightly. (Though I wear a bigger size of boy sock than you do, I have biiiig feet, but then again, so do some boys).

For what it's worth, I also wear man shoes. I've got my girly shoes for playing dress-up, but my regular trainers are from the men's section, because it's so hard to find my size in the women's section, and then even if I do, they have pink and glitter and designs, and I just want trainers. White. No frills, no fuss, definitely no pink.

Thus, I have very masculine feet, unless they're bare. :)

Plain white fluffy girl socks are nicely padded, but I was so tired of the heel being behind my ankle.

Back when I wore shoes, my favorite pair of hiking boots was a boys' pair. My feet are EE or maybe EEEE. I couldn't possibly wear women's shoes. Didn't work. O'course, at a 5 1/2 or maybe 6, I couldn't wear men's, either. Fortunately, boys need shoes, so I got some. :-)
