Originally my family vacation was going to start today, so when its dates got changed, I was left without any particular Labor Day weekend plans. A three-day weekend with no particular plans! So I made a list of things I'd like to get done:

  • Get my whole DRAWER full of clothes awaiting repair or modification to a tailor finally
  • Buy new shoes, or repair the ones I have on (they have a hole under each big toe)
  • Write material for my next big square dance weekend, coming up soon
  • Get plane tickets for said square dance weekend, since I can't trust that we won't sell the airplane before I have to go
  • Get plane tickets for my family vacation
Of course, I am now immersed in a project that is none of these. :-) I am sorting and organizing all of the photographs I've taken since probably about 1989.

I used to be really good about sorting things as I went along. Then I lived in Paris for a while, took lots of pictures, and came back to the States only to discover that anything developed in a European photo lab won't fit in American albums. Oops. So every time I thought about organizing photos, from that point on, I would try to figure out a decent solution to the problem of a few hundred photographs I didn't want to cut up with scissors. Well... more than a decade later... it's time to move on, SKIP that problem for now, and sort everything ELSE.

This ought to be fun.

Naturally, I now have a somewhat similar problem: many of these photos are 3x5, and those albums are extinct! :-( I may just have to put the smaller photos in 4x6 albums. Ugly ugly ugly... but maybe that's what I get for letting it go so long.

Sticky pages, or using photo corners on paper? Then the photo size wouldn't matter.

I think I can find some that'll fit, but I like the photo corners idea just in case!

Why not just buy some European photo albums? I'm guessing you can find them online. Or I can just ask someone to buy them in Amsterdam next time he's there.

Just as an additional note, I'm pretty sure 3x5 albums are not extinct.I believe there is one on the list here, I just found this: http://www.cameraamerica.com/albums/standard.htm

You're absolutely right; I went to Long's and found two types. Of course, they both sucked, but hey -- two choices at the first store I tried. That's pretty good.

I'm just about far enough along that I'm ready for albums! (Isn't that pathetic?) :-)

HAH. I have learned of the evils of Auto-Format and HTML. I have Edited this entry and lo, my sins are washed away.
