For those following along at home:
Duchess is in remission (from diabetes) again. On Wednesday I brought her in fasting and unmedicated, and she had a blood glucose of 58. She doesn't eat well at the vet's, but they pulled out the kitty treats and she cooperated. They gave her no insulin at that time. Two hours later her glucose was 109. Urine dip showed no sugars at all. Fructosamine level confirmed the whole picture.
Discontinuing insulin. We will re-check in a month.
(I think it's a myth that cats ever stabilize. For Duchess' sake I'm just glad she seems to be such a borderline case. She may do well over the long term.)

Say, is there any link between diabetes and missing the catbox? Duchess always climbs in, but quite often her back end is hanging over the edge! I joke that she has no idea how long she is. (She IS big. I suspect some Coon blood.)
