In a different context, that's a pretty good score. *fever-reducing vibes*

Thanks. I'm just so ready for this to be over, y'know? Gah.

As someone whose colds usually turn into bronchitis that can last for 6 - 8 weeks, I totally understand.

How can you tell when something is bronchitis?

[identity profile] quasigeostrophy.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
With me, usually a mild fever comes back, and I get a lot of chest congestion indicated by a productive cough and mild wheezing. If it gets much worse (more productive coughing that isn't relieved and comes from deeper in the lungs, fever getting higher, and malaise settles in (continually tired)), that's when it's usually slipped from bronchitis to pneumonia.

Ah. I have the mild fever and the malaise and not much else. I think I have patho-just-plain-sick-and-tired-ogy.

when you cough a whole lot, and you go to the doctor, and they look down your throat and say, "Ahh, your bronchias are inflamed," then you know.

(itis = inflammation of)
(bronchia = specific part of your airways)

If you feel ok and are running 99.6, it isn't much of a problem. If you are coughing your lungs out and feel like crap, then it is. Since you are still coughing your lungs out, I would stay home. Shame you can't work from there.
By the By, bronchitis is because usually a virus has irritated your bronchial tubes. Best thing is to find a drug that keeps you from coughing so your body can take care of it. If you get a High Fever, then bacteria has entered into the mix and off to the doctor.
If we lived in Texas or Canada, I'd say go to the pharmacist and get some codeine. But here in California you need a prescription.
I get bronchitis often enough, all I have to do is cough over the phone and my doctor writes out the prescription. Last time I didn't even get past the Kaiser Advise Nurse before I got the codeine. I sound so good when I get bronchitis. XP
