This past weekend I got to call at an invitational "hard C3B/hard C4" weekend. I love calling for those. The dancers invariably have a great time, which is infectious, plus I got to see a lot of old friends I haven't seen in way too long.
Friday afternoon
wooddragon,
rfrench and I departed very early to avoid the traffic. It didn't work. Best thing we saw on the drive: a Range Rover "SPORT HSE" which we decided must mean Support Hose. Also, a lovely small older blue Toyota Corolla with a FOR SALE sign in the window and no phone number.
The four callers for the weekend spent a little time coming up with a schedule for ourselves (I mostly wrote down suggestions and messed with it until everyone was happy) and a system to avoid re-using the music someone else had used (RT had a great idea there: everyone write the "used" titles on a single sheet of paper).
Friday evening I called more of my harder C3B material than expected, so I stayed up late that night and got up early the next morning to write some more. During Saturday's sessions it was evident that that had been exactly the right thing to do. Yay! Then I panicked about the "way too easy, probably boring" level of my C4 and wrote a few more really hard bits there. During Sunday's sessions it was evident that I had NOT needed to worry about that one.
Got home to find my kitties all waiting for me and a nice note from the pet sitter. Yay! First successful overnight trip with someone else giving Duchess her shots. That's a relief.
Next weekend we get to do it all over again, at different square dance levels and a different location: Trailblazers in LA.
