I'm fine, I think, except for a broken fingernail. So's the other guy.

I was northbound on Mary, heading to work, and a guy on the other side of the street just... made a U-turn. Too bad for both of us that I was there! I pulled to the right and slowed as much as I could, but we hit anyway. I couldn't open my door afterward; got out the passenger side. Both cars could still drive, so we went to his house a couple blocks away and exchanged all the appropriate info. He was very polite about it. We were both pretty shaky and we commiserated on how this wasn't a terrific start to the day.

My guess is they're probably going to total mine. A 1989 Toyota Corolla isn't worth much by the book. At least I can drive it while I look for another.

I *suspect* it's technically his fault -- double yellow line, plus U-turns don't have right-of-way anyway -- but I'm not sure that truly matters to either of us at this point. We're healthy, we're not dead or in critical condition somewhere or injured in a way that won't heal; we'll have fully functional cars again at some point; neither of us is making this any harder for the other than it needs to be. All of that seems pretty darn positive to me right now.

i'm very glad it wasn't serious, but i'd caution you to be mindful that some types of injuries don't show up immediately, especially in the verterbrae. my unsolicited advice is to get checked out if you feel anyway sore or still. soft tissue injuries can be very unpleasant if left unchecked...

but be well.

Seconded.

Get into a chiropractor even if you *don't* feel any discomfort. Neck injuries really don't show up for a day or two.

Oh yes! And try not to make any big decisions for a day or so.

thirded. after my accident i felt totally fine until the next morning when i could barely move. spent 6+ months getting my back adjusted every week and another 5 fine tuning, and my crash was just a tap.

Bleagh! Scary, scary stuff, that. I do have the little achies now -- not in the neck, but I recognize the feeling from having had them there (coupla cases of whiplash in my misspent youth). Time to get checked out.

Yeah, they do tend to wait until at least the next morning. :) I think it might be smart to cancel my airplane flight first thing tomorrow. See how achey I am after a night of sleep.

Yes indeedy -- I'm already feeling the tiny little aches that I know all too well from incidences of whiplash in my misspent youth. There's something got all jarred up in there. Time to see someone.

Thanks!
