And now for some good news: MY VIOLETS ARE SPROUTING! Or whatever you call it when you plant a leaf and finally, fiiiiiinally, new teeny little leaves start showing up.

I tried this once before but my planted leaves just died. This time I planted four and I think two of them are going to make it. One has visible new leaves.

I have VIOLETS!

Yay, you! Living plants! That's an accomplishment for me, I can tell you!

Hey, nifty pic! I like that one!

Isn't it amazing? If I just don't screw up, things GROW! It's like magic. I have no idea what makes the magic work but I try to stay out of its way or I'll kill it.

Isn't that the coolest! I started one a few months ago and it's a REAL plant now! (Still no flowers, but many gloriously healthy leaves.)

Oh excellent! I consider that a success. Sometimes they decide not to bloom for quite a while anyway. I've never really figured it out, except mine seem to bloom more when I don't ever water them. :-)

One of mine died a few months ago. The surviving one badly needed repotting, so I worried I might lose that one too. I pulled leaves from the survivor to start them. I've done the repotting now and so far (fingers crossed!) that one's alive. I might have two again soon!
