I've already told my vet that if she's diabetic I'll want to switch to a veterinarian closer to where I live. He suggested I ask the emergency clinics for a recommendation. "They usually know," he said. "As these animals come in they know whether a vet's any good." I bet that's excellent advice.

I can't help you with information as diabetes is something I haven't had to deal with yet, kine ahora. Val is overweight and 14 years old, and I'm always afraid I'm going to take him in for a checkup and be told he has diabetes, so I'll be watching your experience with Duchess closely.
I wish there were a permanent solution you could choose, like the I131 for the hyperthyroidism. I'm so glad Duchess is so tractable, at least ... it will make it easier on both of you.
