Lunch break. Finished the green cotton shirt! FINALLY! Yay!

Bad news: I think I have maybe a year before it won't fit any more. Less if I wash it and it shrinks. @#$! these hormones anyway. How much bigger am I gonna GET? Plus it's kind of constricting around the shoulders. I half-undress myself when raising an arm, and it's awfully difficult to get out of the thing by myself. It is also... you ladies, have you ever noticed that when you wear one particular shirt or jacket your bra straps fall off your shoulders all day? This is one of those. I have a few theories about what makes that happen, but I have counterexamples to all of those theories, so oh well.

Good news, though, is that it's done, and I *can* wear it, and the fabric is truly gorgeous. I fell in love with the fabric in the store several years ago and I still love it now. It has mostly greens, some navy-ish jeans-ish blue, and touches of black, purple, and gold. It's one of the few things I've ever seen that's good for a green-eyed blonde gal with a redhead's pink skin tones. With that blue in it, it will look good with dark jeans, too.

Now I can re-thread the machine in white for a project that's been waiting.

Pictures of the shirt!

Oo, that'd be fun! I'll ask Rob to take a photo of me when he gets back this evening.

congrats on getting the shirt done! and yes, we need piccies!

i'm curious about your theories on bra-strap slippage. i've always assumed it's the fault of the bra for not fitting properly.

For me it tends to happen a LOT more with certain pieces of outer clothing. My Army dress greens were the worst. You're probably right that it's ultimately the fault of the bra for not fitting properly. When in my life have I ever found a bra that fit properly? :-) But it's weird that a shirt could make it much worse.

Theories: 1. The clothes that do this make my shoulders slope down. (Counter: My shoulders usually aren't tensed and held up anyway.) 2. They constrain my arms, so my elbows are down a much larger percentage of the time. (Counter: An awful button-down shirt/overshirt/thing I have that also is constraining but doesn't cause this.) 3. They make me not slouch. (But NOTHING makes me not slouch.) I'm at a loss to explain it!

interesting. i'll have to see if i still get slippage with a couple shirts if i change out the bra. (yes, i'm fortunate in that i've got more than one that fits OK.)

hey, that reminds me - what ever happened to the corset-thing you bought a while back?

Hope it works!

What corset-thing? Remind me...

you and Rob went to some faire-type thing with crafty people there selling stuff. i seem to recall you tried on a corset-y type top. there were pictures. and i swore that you got it, although it needed alterations.

or maybe you WANTED to get it?

Ooo THAT one! Yes, I have it. The alterations were good, though not perfect. It too is green with some blue. I need the rest of the outfit now... what the heck goes with a skin-clinging green and blue suede vest?

thigh-hi boots and a riding crop?

either that or a very full gathered skirt (think Gone with the wind).

naaahhh. boots and whip. definitely. ;-)

Heh! That would certainly go with a skin-clinging black leather vest! :-)

"There were pictures," she says.

Ahem.
