I realized this evening that no, the world does not need proofreaders. The world does just fine without them.

I'm torn between thinking it's fun to find an error in something professionally done and thinking it's truly appalling. I've met the guy who got Hershey's to stop putting "recipie" on their syrup bottles.

Up next: the rant about two sentences joined only with a comma. That one is spreading very quickly.

Comma splices have been around for a long time, only ignorant people use them.

Oh no, now it's nearly everyone. First it was only one LJ-friend of mine who just tended to write that way, now I'm seeing them everywhere, they're even in semi-professional material, it's awful.

AAUUUGH kill me now. KILL KILL KILL

...

sorry. :)

Oh, I know -- I was just trying to be funny, and it was the first thing I thought of with a comma splice! ;-)

The Internet is drastically increasing the spread of bad language habits. I don't know what it is about a keyboard that suddenly makes ppl unable 2 spel, use complete wurds in complet sentences, or s71ck to teh actual alphabe7! And I don't only mean the teenagers. =sigh=
