Corned beef brisket != beef brisket

It's kind of hard to clean a crock pot when you have no hot water. (Well, no hot water feeding the dishwasher or the kitchen sink. The upstairs bathroom has some. I have never been more glad that we have two completely separate water systems here.)

But I got it done.

I sniffed at the brisket, and y'know, I think I'm not a huge fan of corned beef either. Or else my brain isn't too sure how it would work with bbq sauce. (Darn that Safeway employee who pointed out this hunk o' meat. I was all set to go home without any.) I'll try it and see how it goes. Later.

I might have time to make rosemary chicken this afternoon.

Hmmm, maybe I need a crock pot. Making barbecued meat sounds good, and chicken... I thought all you could make in them was vaguely stew-like stuff. More variety in our dinners would be great.

Apparently you can also do soups and whole birds and (if you have a small pot or a lot of people to feed) dips and apple butter and... lots of stuff! I'm going to try a huge number of silly things.

I'm pretty sure they won't bake cookies.

crock pots won't bake cookies, but i've got a recipe for "triple chocolate mess" 'round here somewhere which is, i think, a cake mix, eggs, a box of pudding mix, chocolate chips, and some other cake-type ingredients all mixed up in the crock pot, and cooked for many hours. it's an ooey-gooey decadant chocolate mess of a dessert. shall i start digging for the recipe.

there's a slowcooker yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/slowcooker/) with searchable message archives. might be a good place to browse online for tried-and-true recipes and feedback

Oh my. That sounds like a thick goopy thing sort of like brownies when they're not done yet. No need to spend lots of energy digging, since I'm going to stop recipe tryouts for a little while due to running out of Tupperware to store things in, so no rush. But if you do come across it I'd be curious to see it! :-)
