Day 3: the evil revenge fantasies begin to form.

[Poll #613644]
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:08 am (UTC)
hugs darling, i remember those days.
can you get them removed?
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:17 am (UTC)
Oh, it's probably not medically worth it. It's just that right at this moment I'm tempted to remove them myself with sandpaper. ;-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:20 am (UTC)
I would use twisters before sand paper.
I am sure you love can help. Just open wide.

(Sorry it just came out)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:22 am (UTC)
*snicker*

(ok, "open wide" reminds me there are some activities I am SO NOT DOING right now)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:36 am (UTC)
Ow ow ow. I am feeling slightly better, however, and so you must also feel better tomorrow. I have decreed it.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:46 am (UTC)
Yay! I like your decrees. [livejournal.com profile] platypus for Supreme Ruler! :-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 08:11 am (UTC)
More people so far claim they need to wash a dull spoon than claim they actually have one. I guess they plan to wash someone else's.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 06:46 pm (UTC)
I'm always amused by little oddities like that in polls! :-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 08:20 am (UTC)
I'm usually looking for something more like a RotoRooter truck when I get sick, but I verymuch understand the urge.

Stef, tonsilless
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:01 pm (UTC)
Somehow a dull spoon is what I always seem to want for abdominal schtuff, so I figure if it's good enough for that it can darn well come help me out with the throat. :-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 11:35 am (UTC)
I sympathise completely. I've spent the last 24 hrs envying our CTO who just had his removed.

Feel better soon!!
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:02 pm (UTC)
Yeah!! I didn't know they'd ever bother to do that for an adult.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 01:55 pm (UTC)
Bleah. I still have mine, and I used to get tonsilitis specifically a lot as a child. My doctor was always of the opinion that they were better left in than removed.

*hugs*
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:02 pm (UTC)
Oh weird. Taking 'em out seems so prevalent.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 09:10 pm (UTC)
It helped me acquire an appreciation for doctors that aren't of the better yank it out right away without considering other options persuasion.
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 05:49 am (UTC)
On the other hand I had strep almost constantly as a child, had my tonsils out, and never had another throat problem since. I'm really happy they're gone.
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 07:12 pm (UTC)
I honestly wish mine were gone. Most of my throat pain right now is in the tonsils. What have they ever done for me?
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 02:13 pm (UTC)
Poor sweet baby. :(

Here, let me get my spoon. It doesn't need to be clean, does it? You get the tequila, you're going to need it. ;)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:03 pm (UTC)
I've got the tequila, the schnapps, the wine, the Irish Cream... :-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 08:40 pm (UTC)
Great, I'll grab that dirty spoon then! ;)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 08:59 pm (UTC)
All right Doc, here I am! Do whatever you wan... er, um... :-)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 03:18 pm (UTC)
I hope you feel better soon.

"I can deal with a lot if I can breathe and swallow."

I'm hip! Right now I just want to mask up, plug in, and curl up for a week myself.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:07 pm (UTC)
Especially if you have a humidifier on that machine! Mmmmm, nice warm humid air to soothe the throat.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:16 pm (UTC)
I do have a humidifier, though I have to warm the water myself. If class didn't start in ten minutes I'd be on my way home right now. *sigh*
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 09:00 pm (UTC)
I hope you can get some rest after class, then!
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 09:07 pm (UTC)
What has happened to your nose!?!?

(2 points if you get the reference)
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 02:57 am (UTC)
Drat, I hate missing a reference!
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:04 pm (UTC)
Thanks! :) Today's better than yesterday (at least the throat pain). I can deal with a lot if I can breathe and swallow.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 04:06 pm (UTC)
You need a spork, not a spoon. And can I borrow it once you're through with it?
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:05 pm (UTC)
I always seem to want a spoon -- maybe that's why my abdomen isn't better yet. Absolutely, you can borrow it, and if you find one first I'll borrow yours.
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 06:39 pm (UTC)
aww - i hope you feel better soon :( *snuggle*

(also, TICKYBOX!!!!!!)
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 07:05 pm (UTC)
Thanks! *snuggle back*

CLICKY! Clicky 'cause I'm sicky! (I almost made that the title of the poll.)

Awww ... =HUG=

Have you been cultured for strep? To me, strep always feels like someone is sticking the point of a knife into my throat as hard as they can. Viral sore throats usually feel like someone rubbed my entire throat with coarse sandpaper and then sprinkled some salt in for good measure. But that's just me. If it's strep, you really should get some amoxicillin.

Either way, send [livejournal.com profile] rfrench (or [livejournal.com profile] jackiecat, or somebody!) to the health food store to get some Thayers Slippery Elm throat lozenges (http://www.thayers.com/slipperyelm.html). Especially if it's the sandpaper feeling, these things really do help ease the pain. A bottle of 150 (http://www.internatural-alternative-health.com/ingr/ingr156020.cfm) is probably around $10 or less, or you can get a smaller package first to see if you like them. They don't claim to fix the problem, they just coat the mucus membranes of the throat, which feels very soothing. Give it a try, unless you get better so fast that you don't have time! (Well, one can hope!)

[Please ignore that silliness by some weird writer person.]

Strep: I haven't this time 'round. But I don't have the characteristic white stuff in the throat and I do have other upper respiratory symptoms, so I think this is just my usual "CJ's throat always gets bad".

I have slippery elm in the form of Throat Coat Tea. That stuff is AWESOME. I've gone through most of a box now. Chloraseptic does squat for that stabby pain right in the tonsils, but slippery elm at least soothes it some. Yay for slippery elm!
