A low-key and pleasant social event was exactly what I needed after (what to me had been) that big emotional hurdle in the morning.

[livejournal.com profile] simplykimberly's tarte tatin is amazing. SWOON. My goodness, I have to learn to make that stuff. If I can do half as well I'll be blissed out every time I eat it.

I need to work on my mental mapping between LJ-names and names!

We had some delicious chocolate chip cookies and Rob instantly lied through his teeth: "They're almost as good as the ones you make," he told me. HA! They were fantastic, and let me tell you, in the kitchen I simply do not do fantastic. But I made sure he knew how pleased I was with his compliment. :-)

When we got home we dug through some of the IRS stuff. They want the 1098, checks, receipts, amortization schedules, "land and mortgage contracts" (huh?), and "copies of statements from financial institutions, investment brokerages or persons to verify your total investment interest deduction" (I have no investment interest deduction). I'm starting to wonder if they think this house is an investment property rather than a primary residence. Together Rob and I found everything I need to photocopy and send off, and on Tuesday when government offices are open I'll phone the contact person about that "investment interest deduction" bit.

After we'd found everything I made a commitment to file EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF PAPER ON MY DESK by the time Rob gets back from his flight lessons today. I better hop to it.

Oh hi! I have seen you around LJ (perhaps comments in friends' posts) but had no idea until now that you were the Kathryn I met last night. :-) It was good to meet you too!

I've only recently started expanding my friend's list. so I've not read your journal very much. but one post SimplyKimberly pointed me to I found either interesting or amusing, so I added you. :) She was the one that got me interested in LJ a while back, but I've known her for almsot 8 years now. :) anyway I'm glad to meet you and look foward to getting to know you. :) feel free to look at my back posts to see what I write about... and I'll post a pointer to my cast of characters soon. (cause my family is VERY confusing) LOL

Thank you for a wonderful evening! Sadly, getting up there during evening rush hour is... um... Well, maybe. :-)

*blush* awwww..... I thought his delivery of "well, I read in a book that you're supposed to say that" was perfect! ;)

It was a pleasure to finally get to meet you rin person - yay! Made my day/evening, for sure!

I was glad you weren't insulted by his comment. I *hoped* it was pretty clear your cookies were fabulous and he was saying that to win points! :-)

Likewise a pleasure! I enjoyed watching you play Gobblet and I enjoyed playing Apples to Apples with you. :-) Now I hope to meet Scampi some day!

ahhhh - I would be just as thrilled if your cookies were "better" than mine, too! There is room in the world for MANY delicious food items, and I do NOT have to make them all! (Much as my dear Aidon might think I've done, when he cleans up after me!)

Yes, you must come meet my kitties some day, for sure!

And I will feed you again ;) oh yes .... there will be food.

mmmmmmmmFOOOD! I would GREATLY enjoy eating other stuff you choose to feed me. (As long as it doesn't have fish or seafood in it.) And I really do want to learn how to make tarte tatin!

Did you look at my tarte tatin post, a few weeks ago? It's EASY and I put lots of pics, too!

That's what I would have guessed, given that you're parenting a... ok he's not a teen quite yet. :-) Just wanted to be careful is all. :-)
